Understanding the Glove Substrates

LATEX

The most common glove material due to its comfort to wear.

Latex gloves are made of Natural rubber, natural origin material (from rubber trees). Latex offers a good resistance against many chemicals however, they are permeable to many solvents.

This type of glove is ideal when high dexterity and tactile sensitivity is necessary as they offer the best fit and feel due to the elasticity.

A disadvantage of natural latex is that its proteins can cause or trigger latex allergies.

Common Applications: Medical Device, Compounding, Pharma and Biotech.

NITRILE

Offers a higher protection with the sensibility of latex

These gloves are a great comfort similar to latex and because are made from nitrile butadiene rubber (synthetic material) are a great alternative to operators with latex allergies.

Nitrile gloves are more resistant to oils, solvents and many types of chemicals which make them ideal for multiple applications. Nitrile is also 3x more resistant to puncture than latex and its Static-dissipative properties make it ideal for all static sensitive environments. Compared to latex, nitrile is lower in particles, and non-volatile residues (NVR) making it a “cleaner glove”.

Common Applications: Medical Device, Compounding, Pharma and Biotech.
