The PharmaLock® O.R. kit was recently introduced at AONE, Fort Worth, TX (American Organization of Nurse Executives), AORN, Anaheim, CA, (Association of perOperative Registered Nurses), and this week at ASCA (Ambulatory Surgery Center Association) in Dallas Texas. The meeting attendees included top level healthcare management, Nursing Safety Officers, Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, Nurse Executives, O.R. Supervisors and O.R. Nurses.
Drug diversion by hospital employees in medical facilities has become an increasing problem. According to recent information, this issue is significantly under-reported. Hospitals must not only deal with the problem of drug diversion but must navigate a more complex, evolving trend in pharmaceutical waste management. Due to increasing environmental concerns many federal and state agencies are no longer allowing hospitals the option to dispose of drugs down the drain. Many hospital systems are moving to more responsible, go-green initiatives while seeking safer disposal methods that also reduce opportunities for illegal drug diversion of waste drugs by its employees.
Cactus Founder & CEO, Dave Maness states, "I am very pleased with the incredible response we received from these shows on our latest product, the PharmaLock® O.R. Kit. In the past, our core focus has been in the area of Controlled Substance Waste on hospital nursing suites and in the pharmacy. Recently, we have realized significant interest for narcotic disposal in different areas of the hospital to include Special Procedures, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Emergency Rooms (ER), and Operating Rooms (OR). In response, we developed the PharmaLock® O.R. Kit, which incorporates our proprietary technology in a compact liquids-only form. This allows for easy installation and use wherever liquid medications are administered to patients. In addition to the Smart Sink® system, PharmaLock® helps complete our product offering and provides hospitals a full system solution for controlled substance waste."
About Cactus and Smart Sink®: Cactus is based in Charleston SC, and its Smart Sink® technology has become the industry standard as a safe, secure and effective go-green solution for remaining portions of Controlled Substances. Installed in over 1,900 locations throughout the U.S., this innovative system promotes proper waste protocols and helps reduce opportunities for illegal drug diversion in medical facilities.
