 State-of-the-Art Pharmacy Automation System Tracks Medications from Pouch to Patient

Working with TCG has enabled Millennium to optimize patient drug safety by employing the industry’s only closed loop pharmacy workflow solution. Initially, Millennium implemented the Automated Tablet Packaging (ATP) system with SmartTrayRx™, which uses proprietary fill-to-light technology to dramatically improve the accuracy and speed of filling oral solid medications. For Millennium, this system works hand in hand with its advanced medication administration system which uses bar-coding technology to provide their customers a safe, accurate, and efficient way to administer medication. Millennium later added TCG’s InspectRx™ pill inspection system, which conducts an electronic 12-point imaging analysis of medication pouches—including size, shape, color and quality—to reduce the potential for error by tracking every medication from pouch to patient. The system also provides Millennium with the ability to recall images of every medication pouch sent to a facility, verifying that the proper meds were sent to the proper patient. InspectRx is an important diagnostic, verification and pharmacist assisting technology that allows the pharmacy staff to resolve potential issues proactively.
