Ortho Molecular Products and RMS Announce Solution to Combat Nutrient Deficiencies

Retail Management Solutions (RMS), the market leader in point-of-sale solutions for pharmacies, has partnered with Ortho Molecular Products’ Pharmace program to deliver an integration to the Digital Replete Pharmace software to pharmacies nationwide. The new software will assist pharmacists in making dietary supplement recommendations when filling prescriptions, thereby reducing the incidence of drug-induced nutrient depletion in patients and bolstering their bottom lines.

“Pharmacists hold one of the most trusted professions in health care, and as such have a unique opportunity to impact the health of their communities,” said Aaron Bartz, president of Ortho Molecular Products. “However, the independent pharmacist faces more challenges than ever before, including pressures from PBMs, competition from large retail chain and mail-order pharmacies, and declining reimbursement rates. We developed the Pharmace program exclusively for independent pharmacists to help them overcome these unique challenges. We are committed to developing nutritional programs to help independent pharmacists not only build front-end profitability, but also improve customer interaction and patient retention.”

Independent and outpatient pharmacies play a central role in patient care and are in the best position to assess potential nutrient depletions and discuss options with patients.

“The Digital Replete Program is a tool to help independent pharmacists initiate a constructive conversation about a potential drug-induced nutrient depletion,” said Harry Jablonski, Pharm.D., brand manager of the Pharmace program. “The Digital Replete Program packages all this nutrient depletion information, automates it, and puts it in an easy-to-use digital format. This tool allows the pharmacy to help customers identify these potential nutrient depletions and offer excellent recommendations to enhance their health.”

The Digital Replete Program offers valuable information on:
  • The depleted nutrient(s)
  • The role of the nutrient in the body
  • The recommended dietary supplement to prevent or alleviate the nutrient depletion
This Digital Replete Program is available via two channels. It can be accessed via an online portal, which provides nutrient depletion information to the pharmacy. A second option would be for the pharmacy to integrate the Digital Replete Program software with their RMS point-of-sale system. This provides nutrient depletion information specific to each prescription as it is being scanned at the register and being picked up by the patient or caregiver. In either solution, this information can be printed and shared with the patient to immediately begin the discussion on nutrient repletion options. “We’re really excited to partner with Ortho Molecular Products and offer this integrated solution to our customers. As an innovation leader in this industry, we are constantly looking for ways to make our customers more profitable, and when the opportunity arose to build this integration, we jumped at it. Based upon preliminary real-life store testing, there is a huge potential for stores to increase both margins and profits,” said Mike Gross, vice president of sales and marketing with RMS.

About Retail Management Solutions
Retail Management Solutions is the industry leader in pharmacy point of sale technology for retail and outpatient pharmacies. Having installed more POS systems in the independent and outpatient pharmacies than any other company, RMS has become the industry standard, and is proud to be the only Point-of-Sale provider in the nation that focuses strictly on the pharmacy market. Because of this singular focus, and the fact that the owner and CEO grew up working in his father’s pharmacy, RMS continues to develop pharmacy POS software and hardware capabilities for pharmacies only. RMS was the first to market with electronic signature capture for HIPAA signature compliance, and was the first to market with a fully capable, mobile Point-of-Sale device, EvolutionPOS, for the pharmacy market. These are just a few examples of how RMS will continue this dedication to improving pharmacy efficiency, growth, and profitability. Everything RMS does can be measured by their mission statement, “Making our clients the most profitable and customer-centric in the industry.” For more information, visit www.rm-solutions.com
