Ed Vess, QS/1’s Market Analyst Senior Manager, has been installed as the 2016-2017 president and board chair of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association (SCPhA). He took the position in June at the SCPhA annual convention in Hilton Head, S.C.
“Our profession has made great advances in SC over the last several years,” Vess said. “This is primarily due to targeted education along with government and legislative efforts of SCPhA leadership.”
Vess has served as president-elect of the organization for the past year in preparation to take over the helm.
“Ed has been as dedicated a member of our association as you will find,” said outgoing President William Wynn. “In his time as Legislative Chair he played a significant role in the passage of MAC transparency and naloxone legislation.”
An avid aviator, Vess paralleled the skills of being a pilot to that of a pharmacist. He said even after pilots are licensed to fly, they must continue ongoing education to stay safe in the sky. With pharmacists, he says that is no different. Training and continuing education opportunities help pharmacists stay current with what is happening in healthcare as well as see opportunities for growth in the future.
Vess is a graduate of the USC College of Pharmacy. He has served two terms in the House of Delegates and two terms on the Board as Upstate Director while with SCPhA. He also represents South Carolina in the American Pharmaceutical Association House of Delegates for 2016-2017.
