www.TheraSim.com TheraSim and Northeastern University School of Pharmacy Collaborate for Virtual Patient Simulation Pharmacy Application Durham, N.C., June 20, 2011 – TheraSim, a leading provider of virtual patient simulation (VPS) for training physicians, is teaming up with Northeastern University School of Pharmacy to build a beta application designed for educating and assessing pharmacy students using virtual patients. The application will be built on the TheraSim 360 platform that houses an Artificial Intelligence engine of over one million clinical rules. The Northeastern pharmacy students will use TheraSim VPS to interact with virtual patients – developing a broader understanding of disease states and drug treatment plans in a realistic, but low consequence setting. TheraSim VPS will develop functionality in its simulator to evaluate students’ medication therapy management recommendation skills and the rationale accompanying these decisions – this will aid in clinical reasoning skill assessment and development. In addition, functionality to measure and report dosing specific decisions will be enhanced. Northeastern University faculty are working closely with TheraSim to modify case content and develop a simulation environment that challenges and engages the Northeastern students. “Northeastern is a perfect partner for this type of initiative.
