Cold Chain Technologies Receives Sustainability Certification for TRUEtemp Naturals® Shippers

CCT’s TRUEtemp Naturals® combined with its digital offerings = Thermal Packaging Industry’s First Sustainable and Smart Shipper

FRANKLIN, Mass., April 11, 2022 — Cold Chain Technologies, LLC (“CCT” or “Company”), a leading global provider of thermal packaging solutions for the transportation of temperature-sensitive products for the life sciences industry, has received a certification for the repulpability and recyclability of its TRUEtemp Naturals® Shippers. The Western Michigan University (WMU) Recycling, Paper, and Coating Pilot Plant provided an OCC-E (old, corrugated containers) certification to CCT, signifying its entire sustainable shipper can safely and efficiently enter the recycling stream and be repulped. 

WMU is a leading certification organization for corrugated fiberboard recycling fiber-based packaging; its test models the Fiber Boxboard Association’s (FBA) wax coating replacement protocol. The FBA members represent about 95% of the corrugators in the United States. The OCC-E certification ensures corrugated packaging is safely recycled. The WMU Pilot Plants are committed to recycling process innovation, testing, and certification. They are committed to partnering with companies to test and develop a recycling protocol that meets unique needs — while meeting industry standards.

A study showed CCT’s sustainable shippers provide an 80% decrease in overall environmental impact compared to a standard cold-chain industry shipper.
