GOAL
This activity is intended to provide health care professionals with an update regarding recommendations within the 2018 Cholesterol Guideline for the management of hypercholesterolemia, lipid-lowering medications, statin-associated side effects, and treatment of special populations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe the 2018 Cholesterol Guideline recommendations for patient-centered management of hypercholesterolemia
2. Compare and contrast currently available medications for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia
3. Identify the role in therapy for nonstatin medications
4. Explain statin cognitive side effects, new-onset diabetes, and muscle complaints
